Howdy guys, it’s Francis, the leader of SSB, and I’m writing this from my bed. Fortunately I took the day off and I’m resting. Comic Con was beyond intense. I’m going to let these pictures and videos speak for themselves.
Big ups to the Hard Rock Hotel for being super awesome to us during our stay, the Manchester Grand Hyatt, Bryan’s 24 for some awesome Chicken and Waffles, Johnnie Walker, Grey Goose, DJ Kid Wonder, and my SSB fam.
Oh, and we at SSB offer our sincerest condolences to the family of Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, developer and creator of videogames, and the person that brought us MOTHER/Earthbound.
The animation quality isn’t anything to write home about, though it’s nowhere near studio Pierrot levels. Otherwise, it’s a fun romp in the Dragon Ball universe, and who doesn’t love those? Goten and Trunks steal the show, like always.
To celebrate SquareEnix and Sony’s announcement of a Final Fantasy VII remake, Brian and I have started a somewhat spoiler-free playthrough of Final Fantasy VII. It’s not exactly clean, and I talk about Jessie Spano. Saved by the Bell!
It’s been a rough few weeks, and I’ve been dealing with a few issues of my own. A whole buncha stuff cropped up and it left me feeling like a shell of myself. Not knowing if what I was doing was right, constantly questioning myself, etc….
I’m still trying to work through it all. Hopefully I can work through this funk. Fortunately, I’ve got my crew still behind me, after all this time. I guess I’m doin’ something right.
Sorry for the lack of content. I promise I’ll make it up to you guys. Somehow, someway.
This week, it’s back to the fightin’ office for me. Hard training awaits. Some of my homies have been holding it down on the geek front.
My homegirl Jennice has been streaming Xenogears every Monday-Wednesday starting at 8 PM PST. Here’s her site:
I watched all 12 rounds of the Mayweather v. Pacquiao fight. It went exactly as I predicted it. Decision win going to Mayweather, due to his footwork, evasive movement, and superior defense. Surprised? Not at all. Underwhelmed? You betcha.
*PRO-MMA Rant incoming*
That’s why I prefer MMA/Kickboxing over plain boxing. To me, it’s way more exciting and there’s plenty more ways to fight. 8 points of contact as opposed to 2 points. Kicks. Knees. Elbows (Muay Thai rules). What always gets my goat is when boxing fans always say, “Oh, if an MMA fighter went into a boxing ring he’d lose.” Well no shit. You’re taking away all the weapons an MMA fighter can use. If a boxer were to go into the MMA ring or octagon, at least they can’t say that both fighters were nerfed in any way. A boxer can go into an MMA ring with his fists. The MMA fighter or kickboxer can go in with all their weapons intact. And boy do I love watching boxers go into an MMA/kickboxing fights and getting their just desserts.
*end Pro-MMA rant*
Tonight just reaffirmed a few things for me. One, it pisses me off to see boxers make that much money for a fight that was about as exciting as watching grass grow. Two, I just can’t be bothered by any combat sport where only the fists can be used. Three, screw the hype train. For me, it’s MMA all the way. Kickboxing and Muay Thai too.
I’ve taken the liberty of adding some fights which are my personal faves of recent memory.
