SSB’s Mission Statement

Or, how I learned to stop worrying and love the otaku bomb.

It’s September, traditionally the birthday month of SSB. Jenny and I suggested starting a comic 12 years ago after we met up for lunch. You already know the deal, bad breakup, lost loves, loss of self-identity. Jenny helped me get back on the road to recovery, and it involved doubling down on my identity. OTAKU TRASH PANDA FIGHTING ENTHUSIAST–but I digress.

Now, SSB’s grown. In the midst of all this growth, there’s always been once principle that I’ve held close to me, and it’s the central tenet to everything SSB does:

HAVE FUN AND ENJOY WHAT YOU’RE DOING.

SSB now consists of this website where comics are kept, a physical zine that you can buy at certain retailers in San Diego, and a network of Twitch streamers. Another tying theme to all these endeavors is the pursuit of all things geek and being unafraid to express your love for it.

GEEK LOUD AND GEEK PROUD, SSB.

And the last thing that SSB holds dear and made tangible thanks to Brian,

SUPPORT YOUR FRIENDS.

That’s about it from me. We’re still workin’ on our shit, and I’ve actually got some stuff to put here!

This picture drew a lot of engagement on Instagram!
Alisa and Rean were gonna do the dirty in the old class 7 dorm but they got cockblocked.
