Anthony Green & The Trolley

So I was recently blessed by the awesome people at A Red Trolley Show with the opportunity of seeing one of my favorite artists of all time, Anthony Green in person. When I say in person, I was literally right in front of the dude.

By this point you should already be largely familiar with Anthony Green…you know, from Circa Survive… No? What about Saosin? alright I get it, sometimes I forget that I don’t know my audience. Most of you didn’t care about music as much as I did while in school. If you were, I bet it was music from Dance Dance Revolution but, I digress.
Emerging out of just about no where in a large way with a sound so absolutely refreshing it’s a wonder he hasn’t already exploded into the general mainstream. To listen to his crooning voice come over his effortless guitar strums (Hand claps for alliteration there) was amazing.
Catch me in the background in the video below and enjoy the music.

!!!

Let’s talk music (because apparently that’s what I am supposed to talk about). I just got back home from seeing !!! tonight (also spelled/pronounced Chk Chk Chk). I was pretty bummed that I didn’t get to go to Disneyland today, so seeing !!! was a nice treat. I had totally forgotten about the show until a friend sent me a text saying I was on guest list. I thought, “AWESOME!”, not because I was on guest list, but because I wasn’t entirely sure if I wanted to pay full price for a band I only had luke warm feelings for.

For me, going to shows is like listening to music online. If I am uncertain of someone, I want to check out their stuff for free. If I really dig their stuff, I’m more inclined to buy. With this particular show, I knew of !!! and heard they were fantastic live (I almost dropped the f-bomb there… someone needs to let me know if profanity is acceptable). So I was excited to see what they had in store for me.

!!! was alright. I had fun – but not as much fun as I thought I would have. Nic Offer, their front man, was totally energetic and nuts. I just think for me, I’d rather see them at a festival, which makes sense because anytime someone recommended me seeing them live, it’s because they saw !!! at a summer music fest. There’s just more room to get drunk and crazy in the dance pit.

Anyway, here is their song Wannagain Wannagain. Their sound is described as dance punk, and you can tell why. I like that they’ve got that element of soul. Makes for a more interesting band.
