From the CEO’s desk – Comic Con 2017 and beyond

It’s that time of the year where all the geeks come out of their rooms to congregate in a small-ish convention center in San Diego, discussing and celebrating all things even vaguely geek.  Yes.  Comic Con is upon us.

I can’t even begin to count the times I’ve been to the convention center, but I sure as hell don’t seem to be getting desensitized to it.  Rather, the fun keeps increasing.  I’m also aware of more events going on outside the con, so I’m gonna try my darndest to see as much of it as I can.

Before the con happens, there’s a certain calm that we’re all in.  Preparing, waiting, anticipating, and listening to Garasu no Hanazono are all things SSB’s doing to gear up for the con.  Ruby Rose heading to an Arc System fighting game, Geese Howard showing up in Tekken 7, man, shit’s wild.

FYI, SSB’s HQ for the con is going to a certain hotel Downtown, sorta near Horton Plaza.  Good for Gaslamp activities.  Big ups to Jared for scoring this one.

9 years.  9 cons.  And SSB’s numbers keep increasing.  Guess SSB’s doing something right.  Standing for what’s right and geeky.  Not bending to the mainstream ideals of what’s cool.  I’ve watched many groups come and go, single entities claiming to be geeky and what, take a couple of con photos and fizzle out?   Nah, SSB don’t roll like that.  If I’m headed to idol hell, then you motherfuckers are coming with–

aHEM.

Work on the zine still continues unabated.  We’ve also signed a couple of new writers to the team.  Their work will be drawn out real soon.  As far as the cover art goes, I can show that to you guys now.

Oops.  My bad.

Beaten to an inch of my life, but still standing and ready to go another round or two.  That’s the way I roll.  Look out world, SSB’s still up.  And there’s no signs of stopping now.
