First off, thanks to my friends, family, and all you cool geeks that made it out to SDCC 2013.  You all deserve a round of applause.

Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Okay, good.  Here are my pictures from that fun-filled nerd orgy.  Special thanks to my crew, Jabronie Pictures, Detoonified, The Stunt People, Almost Good Films,, and the #HLGKTA.

Pirates, Cameras, Cards Against Humanity

I feel a little sad that I won’t be using cellphone pictures on this site as much, but I’ve gotta step up my game.  I got the camera from’s Lester, and it’s a fine camera for someone that’s pretty damn new to this whole DSLR thing.

I’m sure you guys are noticing a few changes on our site.  While we are upgrading our hardware and software, the core of SSB will remain unchanged.  The core of SSB is, and always has been the strength and the style of our writers and artist(s).

…hang on, I just bought Cards Against Humanity.

And here’s another episode of Detoonified, where Saph and Sarah break down a claymation feature.  Watch it!

…and is my strike almost over?  Sigh.

What sort of noise should I put in here..?

Does this go here? No, there? Hm…

Remember a few months ago, how I wrote a certain article about a certain magical Korean-styled variety show? Well, our director Mark is still workin’ on it, and I caught up with the director/video editor to see how it was going.

  • Right now, the footage is being edited, and will be released in three parts.
  • Expect another teaser to drop within a month.
  • It’ll be pretty sweet.

And I’m not just sayin’ that ‘cuz I’m one of their PR guys.  I genuinely think this show’s gonna be mad dope.  The fact that it’s being filmed at my dojang is pretty sweet.

Mark, handle it!

An Anime Conji plug, among other things.

477750_10150661854814035_2029012070_oAnime Conji.  San Diego’s only anime convention.  You might be wondering what a small website like ours has to do with this anime convention?  Well…a few things.

For one thing, I’m one of the volunteer coordinators.  And yes, we are recruiting.  Interested?  Sound off in the comments, and I WILL RESPOND.  Serious.

The volunteer department’s mascots are named “twitchy” and “gatcha”, both named for the first volunteer coordinators.  Myself and Gail I.  GAIL!  SHOUTOUT TO YOU!  I KNOW YOU READ THIS!  THANKS SO MUCH!!

So I think you all should go to this convention and say hi to us.  Neggy and Ro will be there taking pictures and such.

And before I forget, I wanna give shoutouts to my homies that I met through Anime Conji:

  • @whitedarryl
  • @kaleionapua
  • @vince85
  • @flareboost
  • @elfgrove
  • @mgshogun
  • @richandcreamy
  • @eyemusing
  • @kawaii_kupo
  • @kupomatic

If you’re not gonna volunteer, you can still go.  Real talk.  Here’s the link.

It’s time for a new segment on SSB.  I’m calling this….COOL GEEKY SHIT!   Here, we’ll focus on cool geeky shit that’s….local.  So maybe, LCGS?  Ehhhh, we’ll stick with CGS.  I’ve got a few things I’d like to showcase, so let me start with something from my homie Anthony Hom.

Anthony is a chiptune wizard that likes to dress up in banana suits.  Seriously.  I met him at last year’s San Diego Asian Film Festival, when he was wearing a banana suit.  Since then, he’s introduced me to the wonderful world of local chiptune music, and this video (which he directed) is an aural and visual feast.  Don’t take my word for it, here it is.

Next up is a short little fight scene from one of my “Saturday Striking!” students, Fernando Jay Huerto.  He put together a video in which Little Mac fights against Ryu.  I won’t spoil the results…but for people that know Fernando…well, let’s just say it plays out like it usually does.

Support your local geeks! Check this shit out!
