Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Explains Why He Hates Fat Chicks | Elite Daily

Abercrombie & Fitch CEO Explains Why He Hates Fat Chicks | Elite Daily.

Apparently Abercrombie & Fitch’s CEO Mike Jeffries only wants beautiful people to wear his clothes.  Peep this:

“In every school there are the cool and popular kids, and then there are the not-so-cool kids.  Candidly, we go after the cool kids. We go after the attractive all-American kid with a great attitude and a lot of friends. A lot of people don’t belong [in our clothes], and they can’t belong. Are we exclusionary? Absolutely. Those companies that are in trouble are trying to target everybody: young, old, fat, skinny. But then you become totally vanilla. You don’t alienate anybody, but you don’t excite anybody, either,”

A little judgemental?  Then again, when you look like this, I can see why you want beautiful people to wear your clothes.

HI, I'M GARY BUSEY

HI, I’M GARY BUSEY

I’ll say this for the guy, he’s got balls.  It’s not like I shop at Abercrombie anyway :X.

Super Street Kineda II

slideshow_1_1024x1024
Had a chance to check out Kineda’s SF Hyper Collection yet? It’s signature Kineda art, plus you’re favorite Street Fighter II characters. The only thing that can top that is if they made more tee’s with SF4 characters… *cough, cough CODY…ahem.

I’m not big on graphic tee’s anymore, not since 05/06 or so but, Looking through the Kineda Store. I must admit i’m tempted to pick up a few things (I personally like the “Shoryuken” snapback). So if you’re big on Streetwear, still “hypebeasting”, a Capcom supporter, Street Fighter fanboy/girl. I suggest taking a look at the store and dropping some of that tax return money on some fresh shit.

From Geek To Chic

So I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to be a “geek” and all that comes with the territory. Stereotypically (keyword), a geek has a difficult time attracting the opposite sex which is usually a direct consequence of being a social dunce. We’ve all been there. Misguided folk who just need a hand to lead them down the right path. I’d like to believe that absolutely anyone can be socially savvy. And don’t get me wrong, there’s more to being socially savvy than just looks, like confidence and charm, but there is a progression to perfection (or imperfect perfection, whichever you feel more comfortable belonging to). Typically, if you know you look good, you feel good, and in turn you build confidence. Confidence allows one to release certain fears, and the release of those fears can help one develop charm. With that in mind, I found it appropriate to keep an eye out on current fashions that might help guide the misguided to at least know where they are in the let’s call it “map” of fashion.

I started a From Geek To Chic Pinterest Board of images that I found a normally geeky person might wear, but the outfit has been pizzazzed or tada-ed. What I hope for with this project is to help turn-the-wheel in people’s minds as to what they can do to be a little more stylish or chic-y in order to be a brighter beacon that peaks the interest of the opposite sex. Turning geeky looks into chic-y stares. Dun dun dun!Chic-y chipmunk stareBelow is my favorite outfit that I pinned on my pinterest board. I just love how it’s called a grandpa cardigan but looks fabulous on the girl. The color scheme is so muted, but that hint of green gives it enough pop to make it look stylish. Stay chic-y folks! But don’t worry you can also still stay geeky!! =P

Anime VS Fashion

*I‘m not the biggest anime fan, some of you might think that’s absurd seeing is how this is a geek blog and my partner @Twitch plasters mostly anime or j/kpop on this here forum. Don’t get me wrong, I’m still a huge geek. I just choose to enthrall myself into other things like D&D, fighting games, hip hop, sports, NOT being socially awkward, and fashion.

Looking “anime” isn’t exactly a fashion compliment. Immediately, I think of obnoxious colors and power-dressing, probably in part thanks to the popularization of street wear and people taking pictures of Kogyaru’s like it’s the norm; Try starting a non-ironic fashion blog by taking pictures of girls walking out of a Hot Topic, see how that sticks. Obviously, just as anime is not all lolis, Fashion is not all Jeremy Scotts and in the past few years the relation between the two have accelerated, especially because kids these days are increasingly interested in the two. There was this German graphic Designer who plastered classic manga and popular video game characters in High Fashion logos.

Then There was the good people at Human Aliens, who outfitted DBZ and Naruto Characters in street wear…

ANYWAY there’s another collaboration that’s ongoing, which is much weirder in many respects – certainly creatively.  A few years back, manga artist Hirohiko Araki – a shonen artist who has been drawing one of the longest running manga series, Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure. He loves to include western references in his writing, including a character named Gucci, which raised some flags at the Italian house. But creative director Frida Giannini took the thing in stride and invited Araki to display his works in the Tokyo flagship store for the brand’s anniversary.
This year, Araki and Gucci are taking the collection a step further, dressing up Gucci stores worldwide with designs by Araki of the Cruise 2013 collection. The image bellow is one you will be able to see over there. It’s a pretty ballsy move, and I salute it.

The Ghost of Katie

Katie
Shhh! A glimpse into what I’ve done before I show the guys! Only because they’re sleeping LOL. Anyway, this is technically two concepts I have for the character Katie. I was told she was a kind of a guy’s guy, a big sister, very normal apparel wise, and very much like Jay. That’s why I gave her sweats and low top Chucks. But then I read Beau’s description of her. Yes she is like Jay and is an Otaku – but Beau saw her a little as geek chic. He had a sketch of her in a skirt – sitting on a cloud. So I gave her a skirt, poofy and a little on the J-Rock side – esp paired w/the knee-high Chucks. I can see either look working for her, but I prefer the skirt because the poofiness reminds me of a cloud. She’s supposed to be dead, so when she is not sitting on a cloud somewhere, I imagine her clothes to be a bit floaty.

Sun in.

I was talking with one of my homegirls and somehow the subject matter drifted to hair care.  Who remembers Sun In?  That hair lightener that would give streaks and highlights to your hair?  Oh man, if you were growing up in the late 90’s you know all about this.  Most AzN GuRlS(yes, this isn’t a typo) would use this on their hair to give their normally black hair streaks of brown, thinking that it would make them stand out.

That is until everyone started doing it.  Sometimes, they would use too much….

And have carrot top hair.  LOL.

So this is where you come in, loyal readers.  Have any Sun In accident photos?  SHARE THEM WITH US!

X-Men…Swagged Up

Growing up I was a complete fanboy and thought the coolest thing around was the X-Men (Uncanny). I couldn’t get enough of them. If I wasn’t at home reading my brothers comics, I was watching the FOX series on TV. If I wasn’t watching, I was playing the game at the Arcadeor on the SNES. Now we’re here in the present and not much has changed. I still read the comics graphic novels. (Ultimate). I watch the Anime version on Spike. And now I’m playing the games on my XBOX. Yup. The X-Men are the coolest thing since folded love letters and strawberry kiwi Capri Suns. But did you ever wonder what the Team of mutants would wear when they weren’t in there suits? This collection of X-Men illustrations by Andy MacDonald Shows us and features the team rocking contemporary clothing designs. Beating the Brotherhood and then Styling on em’

May the 4th Be Sexily w/You!

It’s been quite awhile since I’ve last posted – forgive me for I am a busy human being! I’ve actually been meaning to make this fashion post for awhile, but I’m glad I waited for today – because this Aussie based site has been posting ALL DAY yesterday and now it’s my turn (darn you international time zones)! WARNING: This post is about women’s clothing – but I do suppose it serves as fan service to you dudes.

When it comes to pop culture and clothing – I’m not very fond of marrying the two unless it’s great. Do not give me a hefty Hanes T w/a random screen print of Bart Simpson’s head. Give me a Bart Simpson cropped sweater/knicker shorts/thigh high ensemble! Don’t give me a Pokemon hoodie, give me Pokeball Pasties! There are plenty of other examples, but my favorite comes from the brand Black Milk Clothing.

Black Milk specializes in unique leggings, bodysuits (see image above), and body-con dresses (that’s super tight dresses for those not in the know). What they’ve gained insane popularity over is, not just their alternative sexy apparel, but their ability to incorporate geekdom w/style. The first time I heard of Black Milk, it was because of their Star Wars body suits (which is why they spent all day yesterday posting photos of girls in their Star Wars body suits and dresses on their FB – boys prepare to yourself for the nosebleeds! Don’t forget to click “See More Recent Stories” for all the Star Wars related posts). Star Wars isn’t the only print they’ve used – they’ve also done circuit board leggings and a Tetris body suit and leggings.

Black Milk is still a small company, their production and collections don’t come out as quickly as F21 can churn out knockoffs from their sweat factories (whoops! Did I say that?). This means a lot of their products are sold out by the time you save up enough money to purchase. But if you’re really interested in something, you can keep checking back to see if they re-stocked or even came up w/more interesting patterns. I’m still hoping for a Power Rangers body suit – but I guess a cotton tank dress will suffice.

And just for more Star Wars Day fun, I give you Queen Amidala as a stripper in the movie Closer. You can thank The Waffles Girls for this brilliance!

Natalie Portman Star Wars? Closer? Queen Amidala?
